Organosolv pretreatment is the process to extract lignin from cellulosic feedstocks with organic solvents. Alcohols are the most frequently used solvents in organosolv pretreatment. Delignification by ethanol solvent was an effective pretreatment method for enzymatic hydrolysis. Ethanol solvent pretreatment can be performed with less solvent concentration and ethanol also can be easily recovered. This study dealt with pretreatment of ethanol solvent. And, experiments on the recycling of solvents were performed. The concentration of the solvent was decreased as the solvent was reused in pretreatment process. When performing pretreatment by initial solvent, glucan enzymatic digestibility was 71.0%. The enzymatic digestibility has been measured as low as less than 66% in the first reuse process. Nevertheless repeating reuse solvent, the enzymatic digestibility were maintained similarly. Effect of organosolv recycling has been confirmed for the pretreatment of herbaceous biomass. |
