Li(Ni0.8Co0.16Al0.04)O2 is a very promising cathode material with high capacity for lithium secondary batteries. Al-doping was considered to be useful because the Al-ion is electrochemical inactive during the cycling process. The Co3(PO4)2 or AlPO4 coating is expected to improve both the electrochemical properties and thermal stability of LiNi0.8Co0.16Al0.04O2 cathode material. FT-IR and UV/Vis., XRD, SEM, HR-TEM is used for experimental. After coating, the impurity layer disappeared because the Co3(PO4)2 reacted with it during heat treatment. Electrochemical behavior of the cathode materials was measured by the capacity retention, A.C. impedance, cyclicvoltammetry, and cyclicability. |
