We report on the cure behavior of the LCE/PANI system and the thermal and electrical properties of the prepared LCE/PANI composites. The incorporation of electrically conducting fillers into the LCE matrix could produce conducting polymer nanocomposite. Instead of conventional conducting fillers, polyaniline(PANI) nanorod with an average diameter of 30 nm was employed as nanoscale filler in this work.6 PANI nanorods could play roles of curing agent and filler without restricting cure reaction owing to the nanoscale architect. The prepared LCE/PANI composite showed elevated electrical conductivity and enhanced thermal properties. In addition, the thermoset based nanowire, which is composed of liquid crystalline epoxy (LCE) and polyaniline (PANI), was prepared using AAO template. The temperature gradiented curing process was employed to obtain homogeneous nanowires showing enhanced electrical conductivity. Besides, our synthetic methodology can provide a convenient way to prepare thermoset based nanowire materials using AAO template. |
