Microalgae has recently attracted great attention as a feedstock for biodiesl. Extraction of algal oil from microalgae is a critical step for biodiesel production and the extraction using organic solvents has been widely used. In this study, extraction process using a single solvent and solvent mixture was investigated for Nannochlorosis sp. cultivated in a raceway pond filled with seawater from East Sea. The effects of pre-treatments such as sonication, microwave and autoclave prior to the solvent extraction were also investigated. Finally, biodiesel was produced using the algal oil through chemical, and and enzymatic methods and the results were compared with each other. |
