제목 Comparison of Operation Strategies to Prevent Substrate and Product Inhibitions in Biological 1,3-Propanediol Production from Crude Glycerol
초록 A large amount of glycerol is being generated as a “ waste ” by-product from many commercial biodiesel production plants. Crude glycerol was found to be as good as pure glycerol in its biological conversion  to 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD) which has numerous applications in adhesive, laminates, cosmetics and medicines. In this bioprocess, however, substrate and product inhibitions turned out to be a critical problem lowering 1,3-PD productivity. In order to prevent these inhibitions, we tried several operation strategies including batch, repeated-batch and fed-batch and compared these method each other. In addition, statistical analysis for the optimum condition of 1,3-PD production was also carried out.
