Synthesis of Hyperbranched PMMA via Coupling of Star-shaped PMMA. |

Hyperbranched polymers have been drawing great attention from both academia and industry. In this study, hyperbranched poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) was prepared via coupling of low molecular-weight 3-armed star PMMAs. The 3-armed star PMMAs were first synthesized by activators regenerated by electron transfer (ARGET) atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using “core first” method, and then their terminal groups were coupled. The molecular structures of the hyperbranched PMMAs were characterized using SEC-MALLS. |
