Activation of persulfate has been considerable attention in the application for removal of organic pollutants in aqueous solution. Recently, nano-scaled metal encapsulated in carbon have suggested as an alternative catalyst for activating persulfate that lead to enhance catalytic performance and stability without sacrificing its reactivity and preventing metal leaching. Most studied involved in metal encapsulated carbon for activation persulfate, however, mainly focused on boosting the catalytic efficiency while rarely investigated in oxidation pathway. In this study, we prepared the nanometals surrounded by a few layers of graphitic carbon via electrical explosion of wire (EEW) process. In order to elucidate the oxidation pathway, we have conducted comparative experiments including consumption of persulfate, conversion of bromide into bromate, EPR spectra, and radical scavenging effects. |
