제목 Electrochemical surface passivation of LiCoO2 for advanced safe lithium-ion batteries by using allylic ionic liquid electrolytes
초록 For advanced safe LIBs, room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) have attracted great attention due to unique characteristics such as non-volatility, great thermal stability and high conductivity. We demonstrate that thin and homogeneous surface film, which is electrochemically deposited on cathode, LiCoO2, by using RTIL-electrolyte with adopting the unsaturated part on the cation of 1-allyl-1-methylpiperidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (AMPip-TFSI), can advoid undesired side reactions. The controlled passivation film, comprising with high amount of organic species from the cation of RTILs, covered LiCoO2 homogeneously with the layer > 25 nm and worked as a crucial role to suppress unfavorable thermal reaction as well as electrochemical side reactions.
