Characterization of Polyurethane Elastomer Actuators |

Polyurethane elastomers(PUEs) known as electrostrictive material. When voltage is applied to the electrodes, the PUEs films expand in area and compress in thickness. In order to understand an effect of PUEs component, crosslinking agent are controlled by 0.5wt% and 1wt%. Dimethylol propionic acid(DMPA) and 1,4-butanediol were used as chain extender. PUEs sample that chain extenders are DMPA is added NaOH for comprehension of effect of ionic groups. The frequency, displacement and recovery time according to PUE thickness were measured. 1wt% crosslinking agent contents PUEs samples have higher displacement and lower recovery time than 0.5wt% crosslinking agent contents PUEs. If the PUEs thickness is increased, the actuating voltage for generating of same displacement is increased. |
