Fabrication and characterization of alginate/poly(ethylene oxide)/lactobacillus composite fiber by electrospinning method |

The alginate/poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)/lactobacillus composite fiber (ComF) was studied to deliver lactobacillus to the large intestine efficiently. Alginate/PEO/lactobacillus ComF was prepared byelectrospinning and subsequent soaking in chitosan. Alginate-based electrospinning fibers were fabricated conveniently with the addition ofPEO. The ComF was investigated by SEM, FT-IR. ThePEO enhanced the electrospinnability of alginate aqueous solution. pH-dependent dissolution of alginate and releasing of lactobacillus were investigated at several different buffer solutions. The most of lactobacillus could be delivered intact to the large intestine by using the alginate-chitosan ComF. |
