We synthesized conducting polymer nanowires such as polypyrrole (PPy) and poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) through electrochemical polymerization method using nanoporous templates (Al2O3). From scanning electron microscope photographs, we observed the formation of nanowires with a diameter of ~ 200 nm and a length of 20 ~ 40 μm. Electron-beam was irradiated onto the PPy and PEDOT nanowires. Energy of electron-beam varied from 100 keV to 2 MeV, and range of electron-beam dosage was from 1012 to 1017 electrons/cm2. To discern structural and conformational changes of the PPy and PEDOT nanowires through the electron-beam irradiation, FT-IR spectroscopy, UV/Vis. absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy were performed. The electrical properties of the electron-beam irradiated PPy and PEDOT nanowires were investigated by measuring I-V characteristics using conducting atomic force microscope. * Supported by Korea Atomic Energy Institute. |
