Flame Retarding Polyolefins by using Waste Inorganic Fillers |

Artificial marble(AM) powder and Coal ash(CA) which contain useful materials such as aluminium trihydroxide(ATH), alumina and silica etc. were used for improving flame retarding properties of polyolefins. And the physically modified coal ash was used to improve the compatibility and processability with the organic resins. The blends of polyolefins with AM & CA showed highly improved flame retardancy(FR) of the polyolefins but not the mechanical properties. In order to improve the processability of the blends, the phosphorus containing flame retardants(APP, phosphazene) were induced, consequently, the amount of CA and AM could be reduced at the same effect in flame retardancy of the blends.The Chemical and e-beam irradiation crosslinked blends have better mechanical properties compared with the blends with ATH and CA. |
