Synthesis and Preparation of Ion-Conducting Polymer Materials for All-Solid-State Lithihum-Ion Battery Applications |

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) for lithium-ion battery applications have attracted great attention in recent years due to the safety issues of conventional liquid electrolytes. To develop ion-conducting polymer electrolytes exhibiting high ionic conductivity and reasonable mechanical stability, organic/inorganic hybrid copolymers comprising poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA) and polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) with various structrues were synthesized. Although the glass transition temperature of PEGMA segments is low as about -65 oC, solid-state electrolyte films were obtained because of the rigid POSS moieties and free volume of the polymer was increased due to the presence of bulky POSS moieties, thereby increasing the mobility of ion-conducting segments. |
