Elastomeric materials are usually reinforced with carbon black of carbon fillers. Recently, carbon nanotubes has attracted much attention in many industries as one kind of special filler for polymer composite since it has excellent mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties. However, the main problem is the dispersion of CNTs in the polymer matrix due to strong van der Waals interaction force. In this work, we describe characterization and physical properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes-filled chlorobutyl rubber/epoxidized natural rubber composites. To high dispersion of the MWCNTs in the elastomer matrix, the MWCNTs surface treated using aminopropyltriethoxysilane and titanium dioxide. Follow by and internal mixing and 2-roll mixing process, respectively, the results show that the process contributes to increase compare to pristine-MWCNTs. Effects dispersion of the MWCNTs by this process confirm through mechanical, electrical and thermal properties of the nanocomposites. |
