With increasing demands of electric vehicles and devices, lithium-ion batteries have been considered as promising energy storage devices. However, conventional liquid electrolytes have serious concerns with its flammable or explosive properties. And various solid-sate electrolytes have been researched to overcome this safety issues. Here, we propose a UV-crosslinked polymer-clay composite electrolyte (U-CPCE) with polymer base ion transport network and ultrathin clay nanosheets. Montmorillonite (MMT) clay nanosheets redistribute lithium ions at the electrolyte-electrode interface. The U-CPCE has high ion-conductivity and transference number of lithium cations which enable fast charge/discharge performance of battery due to the ion-ion interactions and decreased crystallinity of polymer. Also, this system showed very stable capacity retention due to the suppression of lithium dendrite. |
