In common salt-in-polymer electrolyte, a polymer which has polar groups in the chain is necessary for electrolyte formation. The polar groups dissolve lithium salt and coordinate cations. The cations can move between coordinating sites on one chain or between sites on neighboring chains, promoted by the segmental motion. From above point of view, polymer having no coordinating groups is not suitable for the polymer matrix in salt-in-polymer electrolyte. However, in this PS-based composite polymer-in-salt system, the transport of cations is not by segmental motion but by ion hopping through lithium percolation path made of high content of lithium salt. Moreover, Al2O3 can dissolve lithium salt instead of polar groups of polymer matrix. So, PS can be used as polymer electrolyte. In this work, we prepared new composite polymer electrolytes composed of polystyrene(PS), LiCF3SO3, and Al2O3. From ac impedance measurement, the ionic conductivities of these electrolytes were investigated. |
