Novel SnO2/TiO2 composite material was successfully fabricated by a simple electrospinning process. The composite material has the morphology of small SnO2 nanoparticles embedded TiO2 nanofibers. The enhanced contact region of between the SnO2 nanoparticles and TiO2 nanofibers increased the charge separation of the photoinduced electron-hole pair, which allowed more photoelectrons to participate in the photocatalytic decomposition of the dye. As a result, the SnO2 nanoparticles embedded TiO2 nanofibers with SnO2 contents of 10 wt% exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity under UV irradication. Furthermore, this electrospinning process allows mass production, favorable recycling, and practical applications such as water purification and pollutant treatment. |
