Herein, TiO2 based photocatalysts were synthesized by either one-step or two-step modified sol-gel process. Zirconia was used as a dopant to synthesize a series of Zr doped TiO2 with desirable properties for decolorization of organic contaminants in the presence of natural solar irradiation. The physiochemical properties of the photocatalysts were examined by XRD, N2 physisorption studies, DT-TGA, SEM-EDAX, XRF, UV-visible DRS and HRTEM. XRD results revealed that through varying the reaction conditions and Zr-to-Ti ratios; Zr-TiO2 crystals with different phase structure, morphology and particle size can be attained after calcinations. |
