Synthesis and characteristics of new conjugated polymer containing pyrene and bithiophene unitsfor organic solar cells |

A series of donor-acceptor conjugated polymers, composed of alternating pyrene-bithiophene as donor material and bithiophenyl-2,1,3-bezothiadiazole as acceptor were synthesized via Stille cross-coupling polymerization. All these polymers displayed two absorption bands and showed thermally stable and readily soluble in common organic solvents. Bulk-heterojunction polymeric photovoltaic cells fabricated from a thin film composed of a blend of the copolymer and the fullerene derivative [6,6]-phenyl C71-butyric acid methyl ester (C70-PCBM), in ITO/PEDOT:PSS/(polymer:PCBM)/LiF/Al configuration, exhibited promising performance. Specifically, under 100mW/cm2 of AM 1.5 white light illumination, the device produced a high open circuit voltage in comparison with a short circuit current. Details about polymer structures, fabrication and results of the solar cells using the polymers will be presented. |
