Development of colorimetric sensor for detection disease-derived specific metabolites |

As medical technology develops and interest in health increases, it is required to diagnose disease non-invasively and quickly. Metabolites from human breathing, blood, urine can serve as biomarkers of physiological conditions associated with a number of disease. A rapid biomonitoring through metabolite analysis reports the possibility of early detection of disease and monitoring its progression. In this study, experiments were conducted to build a platform that specifically responds to disease-derived metabolites using colorimetric sensor. By reacting the colorimetric sensor and the target metabolite, the color change can be observed and confirmed with the naked eye in real time. We selected a sample with a large color change, and the solidification experiments were conducted using filter type paper and hydrogel. The specific metabolites derived from the disease could be quickly and simply identified through the colorimetric sensor, and we intend to develope a technology capable of early diagnosis and monitoring of disease. |
