Organic Field-Effect Transistors (OFETs) are receiving significant attention because of their potential applications in digital switches, backplanes for flat panel displays, and radio frequency identification tags. Mobility values over 10 cm2/Vs are already obtained with high On/Off ratios for the solution-processed p-type materials, although the n-type solution-processed OFETs are still lagging in performance. Here we present synthesis and characterization of a series of C60 derivatives containing alkylated-thiophene group for solution-processable n-type OFETs. We found the anchoring position of alkyl chains on the thiophene group linked with C60 can affect molecular orientation and morphology. |
