The purpose of this research is to enhance scratch resistance of the hard coating material. The basic idea is to add polyrotaxane cross-linker (PRX): a molecular necklace structure which can induce high cross-linking density as well as the large molecular movement. We assumed that this unique structural properties of the PRX could increase the scratch resistance. In order to confirm this hypothesis, silane-introduced PRX cross-linker was mixed with the typical hard coating material and the homogeneous mixture was evenly spread by using bar coater. After then, hardening mechanism and anti-scratch performance was evaluated by series of tests. As a result, PRX could induce cross-linking reaction at low temperature region comparing to the traditional hard coating materials. Moreover, the PRX cross-linker significantly improve the anti-scratch properties of the hard coating material. |
