Synthesis of Polyolefin-based Block Copolymers |
초록 |
Polyolefin (PO)-based block copolymers is of immense interest. Many multistep strategies have been developed for the synthesis of PO-based block copolymers, but a single step method with direct use of olefin monomers is more attractive and desirable. A useful method is to use of the so-called "coordinative chain transfer polymerization (CCTP)" technique which involves the use of a single transition metal-based catalyst and a chain transfer agent Et2Zn in excess. In CCTP, polymer chains are grown from Et2Zn to generate Et[CH(R)CH2)]n-Zn-[CH2CH(R)]nEt. Dow successfully prepared diblock copolymers composed of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and very low density polyethylene (VLDPE) blocks by sequentially feeding ethylene and ethylene/1-octene mixed monomers in the CCTP process. Recently, We developed efficient synthetic methods for commercially useful PE-b-poly(ethylene-co-1-alkene)-b-PE as well as PS-b-poly(ethylene-co-1-alkene)-b-PE. |
