The need of Li+increases continuously for industrial uses. However, lithium resources on land islimited to several countries and expected to be exhausted near future.Fortunately, the ocean may be an infinitive lithium reserve. However, theconcentration of Li+ in the ocean is very low (0.1-0.2 ppm) compareto Na+ (10800 ppm), which makes it difficult to recover Li+.In this research, polystyrene sulfonate (PSS) was encapsulated into ZIF-8 particle.Such particles (ZIF-8-PSS) were combined with polyurethane (PU) solutions tomake nanocomposite membranes. The prepared ZIF-8-PSS/PU membranes werecharacterized by employing XRD, FE-SEM, etc. The free standing nanocompositemembrane was applied to a membrane capacitive deionization cell using anaqueous feed solution containing both LiCl and NaCl. The experimental resultswill be presented in details. |
