Preparation of molecularly imprinted polymeric organogel fibers |

A hetero-bifunctional gelator consisting of two different polymerizable groups, i.e. acryl and diene groups, was synthesized. This compound gelated various organic solvents at low temperatures and showed fibrous network structures at the dried gel state. An organogel of the hetero-bifunctional gelator in methanol was prepared in the presence of a theophylline (template)-functional monomer complex and styrene as a crosslinker. The theophylline imprinted nanofibers were prepared by the radical polymerization of the organogel and subsequent removal of the template molecules. Their binding capacity and selectivity for the template were investigated. |
