Chromatographic resolution of the enantiomers by using molecularly imprinted polymer |

Molecular imprinting is a promising technique for the preparation of the polymers with highly selective recognition properties that can serve as separation media. In this study molecular imprinting technique was employed for the resolution of the enantiomers. The molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was prepared by using non-covalent bond. Phenylalanine derivatives were used as the template. Methacrylic acid and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) or divinylbenzene (DVB) were copolymerized in the presence of the template molecule. Another molecular imprinting copolymers were also synthesized using 4-vinylpyridine and EGDMA or DVB. The resulting MIPs were ground into powders, which were packed into columns. The separation factors were estimated by HPLC analysis. The optimum ratio of template to functional monomer to achieve the most enantioselectivity was estimated. |
