Multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWNT) is a promising new material for blending with polymers to obtain nanocomposites having extraordinary mechanical, electrical, thermal and multifunctional properties. To achieve full reinforcing potential of MWNT, it must be well dispersed and have good interactions between matrix and the surface of MWNT. In this work, we prepared the aqueous dispersions of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) containing MWNT via ultra-sonic process. The purpose of this work is to prepare the MWNT incorporated PVA nanofiber by electrospinning. Electrospinning uses an electrical charge to draw very fine nanofibers from liquid. For effective dispersion of MWNT, we prepared the PEGylated MWNT using carboxylated MWNT via esterification. And MWNT and PEGylated MWNT incorporated nanofibers were prepared and characterized. The PVA/PEGylated MWNT solution showed good spinnability in electrospinning. |
