제목 Preparation of diblock copolymers consisting of zwitterionic sulfobetaine end-functionalized MPEG-PCL and characterization as thermo-sensitive properties
초록 Thermo-sensitive diblock copolymers that undergo a sol-to-gel phase transition at the body temperature have been widely used as a biomaterial in biomedical applications such as drug delivery and tissue engineering. In the present study, we prepared methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(ε-caprolactone) (MPC) and introduced zwitterionic sulfobetaine into the end positions of the poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) chain. We confirmed that sol-to-gel phase transition temperature and gelation time were determined to depend on the length of the hydrophobic segments and on the zwitterionic end groups attached to the MPC chain. The thermal properties of the block copolymers were confirmed by DSC and viscometer. This approach, the thermo-sensitive phase transition properties was affected by hydrophobic environment of the PCL blocks in MPC. Therefore, zwitterionic sulfobetaine end-functionalized MPC diblock copolymers can be used as potential biomaterials toward injectable drug and cell carriers.
