Thermosensitive nano-sized particle gels are prepared by precipitation polymerization. Photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) technique detects a significant effect of the external stimuli on thermosensitive swelling behaviors. A thermodynamic frameworks for describing the external stimuli on the swelling behavior of the hydrogel are established by considering the adsorption effect, non-random contact, specific interactions on the conventional thermodynamic model. To clarify the applicability of the model, various lattice-based thermodynamic models are examined. The calculation results represent good agreement with the experimental data in respect of swelling ability and volume phase transition temperature (VPTT). |
