Conducting polymer(CP) actuators undergo a volume change as the redox state is changed. The volume change is due to the movement of counter ions into the film during the electrical oxidation process. In freestanding CP actuators, the electrical resistance of a CP film can produce significant IR drop along its length, which can reduce the actuator performance. To solve this problem, CP nanocomposite was introduced in CP actuator. This study aimed to improve conductivity and to generate the IR drop and delamination that occurs during the actuation of CP actuator. By adding fillers that were of the same material, yet had different shapes. In this study, we prepared a new solid-state CP actuator based on polypyrrole(PPy) nanocomposite film with carbon black and carbon nanofiber electrodes and a SPE composed of polyurethane and Mg(ClO4)2. In addition to conducting actuation test of CP actuator with different types of filler. |
