Solid State Polymerization of Acryloyl - Alanine and Methacryloyl- Alanine using supercritical CO2 |

Acrylate based polymeric nanoparticles capable of binding to specific biomacromolecules have been reported as promising substitutes for antibodies recently.In the present study, poly-acryloyl - alanine nano-particles and poly-methacryloyl - alanine nano-particles were synthesized by solid state polymerization using scCO2. SSP was also carried out in the presence of an inert solvent, toluene, and the properties of the polymers obtained from both methods were studied. The yield in two methods were significantly diffrent. It is anticipated that CO2 having advantageous properties facilitates the SSP process resulting in high yield. |
