The production of hydrocarbons from the C1 gases was conducted using a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor with transition metal-based catalysts. Catalysts were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation of aqueous metal precursor solution. The plasma-assisted catalytic hydrogenation reactions were examined at various packing materials with adiabatic condition. C1 gases can be converted into light hydrocarbons as well as methane under the DBD plasma condition. paraffins were produced in non-catalytic bed and slight amount of olefins were produced in silica-packed bed. Transition metal-based catalysts showed higher olefin selectivity. Operando Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy was used to investigate reaction pathway. Fresh and spent catalysts were analysed by X-ray diffraction, physisorption, TEM, and thermogravimetric methods. |
