Various Polylactic Acid (PLA)/Polypropylene (PP) blending systems were prepared by using an extrusion molding technique at the extrusion temperature of 210°C. The mechanical and thermal properties of the blending systems as a function of PLA concentration, heat stabilizer and Compatibilizer concentration have been investigated. For mechanical properties, tensile and flexural tests, were carried out, and heat distortion temperature was measured for thermal characterization. In addition, the fractured surfaces of the corresponding blending systems were observed by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) for phase separation studies. All the property data were interpreted in terms of each material parameter concentration and compared to the respective SEM micrographs. This was supported by Korea National University of Transportation in 2020. |
