Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 to fuel is an exciting means to solve current energy and global warming problems. However, the synthesis of highly active photocatalysts remains an unmet problem. Herein, we utilize Pt NPs sensitized, blue-colored reduced titania for photocatalytic conversion of CO2 into methane (CH4). The material promotes solar spectrum photoconversion of CO2 to CH4 with the rate of 80.35 μmol g−1 h−1. The excellent activity and stability of the samples suggest that a controlled combination of surface defects, oxygen vacancy, band alignment, and an optimized amount of Pt cocatalyst enables an effective photocatalyst for photoconversion of CO2 to fuel. |
