Conceptual design of non-equilibrium ultrasonic separation for clean chemical processes |
초록 |
Of the US industrial energy use, 45-55% of energy is used in the chemical industry, and about 95% of that energy is used to operate the distillation process. The traditional distillation process has low energy efficiency and uses thermal energy, which has adverse economic and environmental impacts in the zero-carbon era. Here, we substitute the conventional distillation separation using the ultrasound separation process—regardless of the azeotropic point to produce high purity production—to reduce at least 40% of energy. Technoeocnomic analysis and life-cycle assessment are performed for conceptual design. A further idea of coupling with CO2RR-OOR processes to realize a fully electrical energy-based clean chemical production process is also discussed. |
