ZnO has received a lot of attentions as nanostrucsture materials because of unique properties and various applications. Among the synthesis methods of ZnO nanostructures, the hydrothermal method is attractive for its simplicity and environment friendly conditions. We investigated the growth effect and characteristics of In-doped ZnO nanorods as the variation of precursor molarity using hydrothermal method. The zinc nitrate hexahydrate(ZNH) and hexamethylene tetramine (HMT) were used as precursors. For increasing the aspect ratio of the ZnO nanorods, NaOH solution was added to the precursor solution. Added Indium nitrate nonahydrate(INN) used as In dopant. ZnO thin films as the seed layer were deposited to grow well-aligned ZnO nanorods on corning glass(7059) by using rf- magnetron sputtering. The In-doped ZnO nanorods were grown on ZnO seed layer coated on corning glass by the hydrothermal method in the equimolar aqueous solution of ZNH, HMT, NaOH and INN. The morphology, crystal structure and optical properties of the In-doped ZnO nanorods were examined and investigated by FE-SEM, HR-XRD, PL and UV-visible spectrometer. The dopping concentration of Al in ZnO nanorod was higher in horizontal groth than in vertical groth.
