Use of ionic liquids in generation of homogenous mediators such as Co(III), Ce(IV), Co(I), Ni(I) can be an added advantageous in air pollutant removal. A high cell potential attains ( ≅20 V) upon galvanostaic mode electrolysis restricts to use the mediator generation process in ionic liquid. In order to minimize the cell potential, water can be used as co-solvent. In the present work, different concentrations of water in [BMIM]CF3SO3 has been studied the electrolysis by divided (by Nafion 324 membrane) electrolytic cell. Initially, reduction efficiency of mediator precursor was opotimized by potentiometric titration with H2O2 and Co(II), Ce(III), and V(III) were underwent electrolysis and selected through oxidation/reduction potential (ORP) change. The selected mediator was optimized by current density and different electrode pair. Finally, a model pollutant dichloromethane reduction we tested through cyclic voltammetry analysis. |
