The efficiency of organic photovoltaics based on conjugated polymer/fullerene bulk heterojunction largely depends on the molecular weight of conjugated polymer, the weight ratio of donor polymer to acceptor, and the annealing condition of active layer thin film. It has also been known that the electrode material significantly affects the device performance. Although a variety of metal cathodes have currently been used for the organic photovoltaics including Al, Ag, the efficiency is limited primarily by the trade-off properties between conductivity and work-function of cathode material. For instance, Al exhibits low conductivity despite its low work-function, whereas Ag shows the opposite behavior. To minimize the trade-off between conductivity and work-function, the cathode was prepared by co-depositing Al with Au, Ag, and the effect of co-deposition on the device performance was examined, seeking an optimum condition of deposition for the maximum efficiency of organic phtovoltaics. |
