In this work, we prepared graphene oxide/poly(2-methylaniline) (GO/P2MAN) composite particle though an oxidation polymerization process. Its electrorheological (ER) properties were investigated in which both of GO and P2MAN have electrical conductivity. Morphologies of the composite were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Electro-responsive phenomenon of the GO/P2MAN composite particle dispersed in silicone oil was also observed via an optical microscope with and without an electric field. The ER properties of GO/P2MAN composite particle suspension were measured by a rotational rheometer in the presence of different electric field strengths. Under an electric field, the suspension of composite particle showed a distinct ER effect because of conducting property of GO and P2MAN. |
