The roles of interfacial modifiers in inorganic/polymer hybrid solar cells |

In inorganic/polymer hybrid solar cells (HSCs), there are several interfacial problems such as charge recombination and macroscopic phase separation due to the non-ideal interfacial contact. In our study, to effectively overcome these problems, interfacial modifiers (IMs) were inserted between an inorganic and organic interface. Two IMs were used in two different types of HSCs; inverted HSCs of ZnO/P3HT and ZnO/P3HT:PCBM. Comparing with unmodified devices, the devices of ZnO/IM/P3HT and ZnO/IM/P3HT:PCBM showed increased power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 0.42 % and 4.69 %, respectively. In particular, Jsc value was significantly increased by three times in the device of ZnO/IM/P3HT. Their Voc and FF were also improved in both devices. It demonstrates that IMs help reducing the charge recombination and leakage current, along with controlling electronic property and surface wettability on a ZnO surface. |
