Effect of various conditions on dispersion of layered silicate in masterbatch for Ethylene Vinyl- Acetate / Layered silicate nanocomposite |

Polymer/layered silicate nanocomposites have been attracted considerable attention owing to various properties compared with virgin polymer even with the addition of a minimal amount of clay. In this work, we prepared the dispersed masterbatch for EVA/layered silicate nanocomposites by melt compounding method with a twin screw extruder. We investigated the dispersion and thermal property of masterbatches for EVA/layered silicate nanocomposite with the types and contents of organoclay as well as various compounding conditions such as screw speed, barrel temperature profiles and shear force. Nanomorphology and thermal propertiy of master batch for EVA/layered silicate nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA) measurements. |
