Characterization of Sol-gel synthesized Mixed-Anion Phosphates as Electrode Material for Na-Ion Batteries |

Na-ion battery(NIB) is a promising alternative to Li-ion technology for energy storage system(ESS) due to its low cost and wide availability. High power density, large storage capacity and long lifetime is required for grid application, ESS. In this point, polyanion-type material having 3D framework is an attractive candidate with high operating voltage and structural stability. Among these polyanion-type materials, mixed-anion phosphate is known to have a small volume change, high power and thermal stability. Nevertheless, material synthesized in solid-state reaction has limitation of poor electronic conductivity and kinetics of the electrochemical reaction due to its micro-size. In this study, Na4Mn3(PO4)2(P2O7) was synthesized in nano-sized by sol-gel method. The structure and the phase stability was confirmed, the morphological changes were characterized and the electrochemical performance was evaluated. Nano-sized Na4Mn3(PO4)2(P2O7) electrodes exhibit better performance than micro-sized particles obtained by solid-state method. |
