제목 Multi-Na metal oxides as additives for Na-ion batteries
초록 Abundancy of Na is good advantage to make the Na-ion battery(NIB) cost effective. However, the cell potential of NIB is lower than LIB, which leads to inferior energy density. Furthermore, current NIBs adapt a hard carbon as an active material for the negative electrode(NE) which has a drawback of low initial columbic efficiency. At the very early cycles, some amount of the extracted Na+ from the PE consumed by the NE and could not be moved into the PE back, which is ended up to decrease of cell capacity.
In this work, multi Na oxides were synthesized as additives for NIBs. They were applied to the components of the PE to supply the extra Na+ to the NE which is able to compensate the initial capacity loss of NIB induced by the NE. Through the evaluation of physical and electrochemical properties, Na4CoO3 was selected as a promising candidate for additives. Finally, the effect of Na4CoO3 was tested in the full cells with the configuration of additive contained PEs and hard carbon NEs.
