In this study, the activation behavior of petroleum- and coal-based pitch was investigated for the activation process optimization. Petroleum- and coal-based pitch was manufactured by thermal condensation of PFO (Pyrolysis fuel oil) and coal-tar, respectively. The activation process was considered by three kinds of method, Thermal treatment, physical activation, and chemical activation, and the physical- and chemical-activation agent were chosen to steam and potassium hydroxide, respectively. The properties of pitches were characterized by MALDI-TOF(Matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization – time of flight), XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), FT-IR(Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), and polarized optical microscopy, and the prepared activated carbon was analyzed by BET (Brunauer emmett teller) method. |
