Chitosan, a deacetylated form of chitin, has a sub-unit of β-(1,4)-2-amido-2-deoxy-D-glucopyranose, being second only to cellulose in the amount produced annually by biosynthesis. To simultaneously impart the temperature sensitivity, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAAm) molecules were grafted on the amino groups of chitosan. In addition, self-assembled nanoparticles could be formed using the LCST of PNIPAAm, indicating that the chitosan and PNIPAAm had the hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties above 32°C, respectively. Thus, the goals of the present study are to prepare self-assembled nanoparticles and to investigate their thermal-sensitive properties. |
