Synthesis and photovoltaic performance of new diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) dyes for Efficient Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells |

In recent years, the dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on organic and organometallic complexes have attached a great deal of interest because of their relatively higher efficiencies and lower cost compared with conventional inorganic photovoltaic devices. The photoelectric conversion efficiency of DSSC sensitized by Ru-complex has reached 11.5% under standard AM 1.5 sun light irradiation. Compared to Ru-complex, the metal-free organic sensitizers exhibit not only higher molar extinction coefficients, but also simple preparation and purification procedure at lower cost. In this work, we synthesized diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) derivative containing a donor-acceptor system have been explored as organic sensitizersand characterized their photovoltaic property. This work suggests that the metal-free dyes based on a DPP core are promising candidates for improvement of the performance of DSSCs. |
