Synthesis and Characterization of DPP and Selenophene Copolymer for Organic Photovoltaic Devices |

We report the synthesis and electrical properties of new selenophene based low band gap copolymer. The copolymer based on DPP and selenophene was synthesized via Stille coupling reactions. The copolymer was dissolved in common organic solvents, such as chloroform, THF, and chlorobenzene due to the incorporation of the branched alkyl side chains in the polymer backbones. The synthesized alternating copolymer showed much broader absorption band than that of P3HT, covering the spectral region from 400 to 900 nm. The optical band-gap (eV) of calculated from the onset of the film absorption is 1.25 eV. The solar cell results using the copolymer will be presented. |
