제목 A Study on the High Impact Strength of the Syndiotactic Polystyrene Compound
초록 Syndiotactic polystyrene(sPS) is a new promising material of engineering plastics with high modulus and heat-resistance. But the drawback of brittleness makes it difficult to develop numerous application areas with itself. Therefore it is reinforced with Glass fiber and rubber in commercial goods.
In our study, impact strength of sPS ompound is maximized at the level of satisfaction for new application area using a method of modification of sPS and multicomponent blend. sPS modification is performed at a solid reaction process and we can get a maleic anhydride grafted syndiotactic polystyrene(sPS-g-MA). Using this sPS-g-MA, various resin composition is capable of showing a high impact strength. For example, coupling reaction between sPS and rubber phase is introduced in the composition of sPS/PPO/sPS-g-MA/diamine/SEBS-MA/SEBS system. Those compound exhibits at 40kgcm/cm(normally, 10~15kgcm/cm) of notched izod impact strength.
