Nafion is in the spotlight at the fuel cell system because of excellent mechanical property, chemical property and high proton conductivity. However, in DMFC, Nafion shows high methanol crossover which cause low power density and cell efficiency. In this study, Nafion/sulfonated octaphenyl POSS (sPOSS) nanocomposite membranes were prepared by solution casting method with various contents of sPOSS to improve proton conductivity and also suppress methanol crossover. Proton conductivity and methanol permeability were evaluated to confirm the effect of sPOSS dispersed in Nafion membrane. Morphology and thermal stability were also characterized. |
