Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are released from the chemical process industries which are the system losses like storage tanks, venting from storage vessels, heat exchangers etc. Human health becomes critically harmed by the exposure of VOCs for a long time. Hence it is essential to remove VOCs from an environment and out of human contact. Porous material like activated carbon (AC), zeolites, metal organic frameworks (MOFs) is best suitable for the adsorption of VOCs from the air at room temperature. In this experiment, we aimed to remove VOCs by using activated carbon. Activated carbon was made into the fiber by using electrospinning with the polymer solution. Electrospinning was used to be means of forming nano porous mat for enhancing the adsorption capacity. Activated carbon was electrospun with the different proportion with cellulose acetate. The adsorption capacity of the different activated carbon sample was measured using QCM instrument. The principle result of the experiment showed the ascending behavior in case of adsorption capacity of the activated carbon fibers. |
